Come and enjoy a full weekend of creating handmade books in the Angus coastal town of Arbroath. We will work in the lovely spacious studio at Springfield Creative Arts. The workshop will begin with exploring easy, fun and effective paper decorating techniques including paste-paper, painting and simple printing to create some unique colourful papers. You will then learn about the properties of paper and several stitching techniques including pamphlet stitch and Japanese stab-binding. A number of stitched books will be made using decorated papers for covers and end-papers to create a series of truly unique books that express your individual creativity.
Kirsty’s enthusiastic and responsive teaching style creates an enjoyable and encouraging learning experience for all levels of ability.
Delicious lunches using local ingredients, plenty of refreshments and all good quality materials are included in the course fee. Springfield Creative Arts is five minutes from the sea and cliff top walks.
